GPK's Early Years
George P. King Contracting Ltd began in April of 1980 as a solo contractor business. The company continued to grow and began serving commercial and marine customers in the Tri-County area. It began as a home-based business with an emphasis on quality service and customer satisfaction.
In early 2004, George was out working on a job when he met Blair. He recognized potential in Blair and that he may be who he was looking for to eventually take over the business and allow him to retire. George asked Blair if he ever thought of owning his own business. “Not at all!” was Blair’s answer. Six months later Blair decided that he may be up for that challenge. Already a licensed Red Seal Electrician at this time adding another trade would be a bonus.
In May of 2004 Blair went to work for George. He would start and complete his refrigeration trade certificate while learning the business and then purchase the company. February 1, 2009, Blair purchased the business from George and also acquired his Red Seal Refrigeration A/C Mechanic in April 2009.
Fast forward to 2023, GPK Refrigeration has grown and moved into it’s new office / warehouse, located at 268 Hardscratch Road. GPK Refrigeration now serves commercial, marine and residential heat pump customers and is currently into it’s 43rd year of servicing customers with continuing emphasis on both quality service and customer satisfaction.

Meet Our Team
Blair Richardson
Owner/Operator
After starting as an apprentice with the company in 2004, Blair has moved his way up to serving as our owner and operator, purchasing the company in 2009. He has been a licensed construction electrician since 2000. Blair started as a certified electrician who wanted to broaden his horizons and was looking for new challenges. He went on to complete his refrigeration apprenticeship training in April of 2009 to become a licensed Refrigeration AC Mechanic. During this apprenticeship period, he competed in the Provincial Refrigeration Skills Competition and brought home the gold. He then went on to compete in the Skills Canada Competition, refrigeration division, and brought home gold again. Blair is a local family-oriented businessman who lives in the Yarmouth area with his wife, Annette, and their 2 children, Alyre and Anik. As owner, Blair continues to maintain and build on our company’s emphasis on quality service and customer satisfaction.
